Looking back into my first ODS build.. Thanks y'all!

Post by Chris Brown »

Today I opened up my first Dumble build for the first time in probably 7 years to replace a broken switch and bent pot... my first thought was wow what a mess lol.

Honestly though, this amp has played hundreds of gigs without fail and it sounds killer. Sometime around 2013 I switched over to a high plate configuration, added a deep switch (great on clean with a strat), and repaired the input jack that I had broken. Opening this thing up sent me down memory lane.

Back in 2009 I found you guys and started reading every post in Dumble Discussion/Files... I literally read through the whole thing... it wasn't as deep back then. I spent days on end staring at the Rob Livesey photos and comparing them to layouts :D I decided to strip my Twin Reverb Reissue down to the chassis and transformers and build 124 with a one tube reverb. This was my first amp build other than some really basic stuff and I had been building pedals for years, but it was a big undertaking at the time.

I am positive my family thought I was crazy when I disassembled and stripped out a perfectly good Fender Twin.

Since this build, over the years, amp building and repair became one of my main hobbies. This amp became just one of my backups, but it needed some TLC.

Anyway, no real point here. Thanks for a decade of knowledge and entertainment TAG. Here's my sloppy first build from 2010
