Swaping parts on the board .. any techniques ?

Post by jmrckr »

I built a 124 low plate classic and it is working just fine. I already did some modifications to it but I'm starting to dig some mods that requires to swap parts on the board. But how do you people do that without loosing the wires that are connecting from the bottom of the board ? For example, the plate resistors and the cathode resistors of v1 and v2 ... Do you have any tips for that ?

By the way, here is a picture of my amp ... so that you know that it is real !!

Hello, you want the wires coming from under the board to crimp over the top of the eyelet so you can remove parts and the wire doesn't go anywhere. Also, if the wire just comes straight up through the solder joint and the solder joint cracks you may get a bad wire contact.

The trick is to poke the wire thru the eyelet from the bottom and "hook" it over the rim of the eyelet on the top side. You should be able to see the end of the wire when you solder the eyelet. Of course this has to be done right in the beginning. If you just soldered the wires to the bottom side of the eyelet you are headed for some grief.

Great looking build.

Who made the boards for this amp, they look great.

What mods do you want to do to the amp?
Yours Sincerely
