Cow Boy amp 5E3 Deluxe

Post by M Fowler »

Well I needed to rid the herd so I have a box of 5E3 chassis another local builder had and were given to me so I built the amp and put into my Weber brown/white cow hide and it sold fast.

Fender Tweed Deluxe with Marshall channel 2k7/.68/220k/.0004 coupling cap. Other channel is all 5E3.
Use a home built A/B box to channel switch. Yes there is channel interaction that's what gives the 5E3 it's flavor.

Pots are 30% taper CTS.

Speaker: Celestion G12H anniversary.

Mark, what did you think of the Sozo 500p in the tone control? Great looking amp.

Dave, I have been using these Sozo caps now for a while and use them in most of my builds.

This amp sounds great and I really think that cap is the cat's meow.

That's hilarious Martin. Is this real or a photoshop job?

Not real, just a cut and paste job on a photo of a repro plate.

I've often thought about changing that Fender lettering to Fowler but not talented enough to get it done.

Holstein. The other is an Ayrshire. Both are handsome animals.

I'll have to come up the Black Angus and Charolais next before I get the horse hide involved.

great builds Mark :D

are they standard 5E3's or Tweedle dee's ?

I love these amps.

Has anyone ever put reverb in them? would it mess with what makes them great?

Mark you could do this pretty easily using standard fonts: Brush Script MT with reduced font size for the space, and Ariel, with a space between each letter.
