Mounting Power Transformers

Hey there all, thanks for stopping by.

Doing Robs BlackVibe 6L6 and have just about all the parts now (except for the OT, head cab and a some hardware)

I just enlarged the PT hole for a Mojotones Bassman power transformer. The PT arrives with a single nut at the base of each mounting screw. Tell me, are these supposed to remain there to hold laminates in place or, do I take them off to mount the PT flat to the chassis? I'm assuming that I take them off, and use them to mount the tranny straight to the chassis, perhaps add little washers. Since this is my first project using nice chuncky transformers like these, I'm feeling inclined to leave no stone unturned when any concerns come up. And can we tighten those PT"s down pretty good or do we just want a good "wrist firm" kinda torque?

PTs typically arrive with nuts already tightened down to secure the lams together. Don't remove these nuts--add your own new ones, along with flat washers and lock washers. Tighten everything down FIRMLY.

PT is mounted, nuts were left on, and new washers and nuts have been tightened to mil spec 30 wrist/pounds of torque. Now waiting for laminations to begin flaking off like leaves in the NE autumn.
Im going to start a new thread now asking about twisting wire pairs first from the PT. Cant wait to see the smattering of wisdom and smart ass cracks that come out of this. Thats OK though, its Saturday and I can take it.

Would it matter if the twists are Clockwise or counterclockwise depending on which hemisphere you're in?

The Army standard is to tighten until it strips, then back off a scosch.

I've decided since there are no definite answers to epoxy all pairs together after I've wrapped copper foil around each wire and individually grounded them.

Done Deal.
