buzz on presence 16ohm NFB tap - new mojo TW35 xfo

Post by Imss »

Replaced the output xfo on Express A4 build (with 6V6s for now) with a new mojo 791 TW35 6.6k xfo, and now always get buzzing if NFB connected (120Hz?). Reversed .1uf cap polarity, no help. Removing NFB, all seems to work well, at least at low volume levels, so far.

Is NFB needed to clean up at higher volume levels? Can I do I without NFB? It is somewhat shrill so I will want to tame the highs anyway, but I don't want to lose the swelling and growl at higher volumes...

Sometimes reversed OT leads doesn't make horrific noise, it only makes crappy noises. You may want to try swapping the OT leads and see if it fixes it.
