He was a member and occasional poster here, as steeve_a. nice to get a little more of his story from the obit. RIP, Steve.
Re: RIP Steve Ahola
Rest in peace Steve.
I once emailed Steve and thanked him for his SF Bassman conversion to Hot Rod Tweed Bluesmaster layout, schematic and build info he provided along with a photo of my amp I built.
He was a generous man providing invaluable data for all of us. Thank you Steve.

I hope Steve Ahola fans will be delighted to find his Blue Guitar website lives on, through the efforts of tboy Site Janitor at our friendly neighbor Music Electronics Forum. Link:

Re: RIP Steve Ahola
The Blue Guitar web site was a real treasure trove back in the day. His "Son of Pro Maniac" amp got me to try a bunch of things out, a good learning experience.
I think Blue Guitar is where I got the "Hybrid Rev A" and "Humble Overdraft" schematics, which yielded a great sounding amp that I still play.
I wish I had taken the time to say thanks to him.

Very sad - he had cancer for a couple of years but was very staunch about it on his FB posts.
My impression of Steve was that he was a very conscientious guy and was always concerned about the plight of the common man.
The Blue Guitar website was a trove of schematics at one stage.

Great guy that was very generous with his knowledge and patient with those seeking to learn. He will be missed. RIP Steve.
If Hendrix had lived would he have been as good as EDDIE? (Shaver that is)
Re: RIP Steve Ahola
I just saw this post and it really saddens me. I knew Steve personally and we did some jams and gigs in the San Fran bay area together. He was always a great guy and yes he was always concerned with others and was always openly sharing info with me and others about electronics and guitars and amps. His health was not good the last time I saw him in 2014 and a whole year went by without him being able to play out before I moved away in 2015 and lost contact with him except for the occasional Facebook or email. He was always fun to play with and was a quiet guy but easy to talk to. I'm glad his site is still around, it was something he had great pride in and this way his legacy of hard work and time devoted to knowledge will live on. Very sad news.
Re: RIP Steve Ahola
Sorry to hear about Steve's death, I loved his Blue Guitar site, I worked on the Trainwreck Express circuits he posted. Steve's site was a great inspiration to us all, and we all here owe Steve a dept of gratitude for his generousity when we needed a leg up.
Yours Sincerely

I'm sorry to hear this, too. His site was one of my introductions to amp building. RIP.

Re: RIP Steve Ahola
I was away from the boards for quite a while and just now learned that Steve passed almost a year ago. We were partners in crime starting about 20 years ago... I remember at some point he received some kind of legal threat from none other than Dumble himself because he had posted a bunch of ODS schematics at Ampage and Blue Guitar. Steve was a very gracious and generous man. Farewell my friend, I'll see you on the other side.
