Shameless plug New Album now out

Sorry guys for the shameless plug but I've got a new solo CD out today. A 100% guitar album, recorded with my Dumble ODS #102 clone, 3 telecasters and NO PEDALS.

It covers a fair bit of musical ground but the guitar is at the heart of it all, good tone and quality recording were paramount ,along with great playing from the band of course. Tracked live with a few overdubs.

It sounds excellent, Marcus! I like that you used Telecasters. Is that a thing that you decided to be a limit or it was just the obvious choice before the beginning? The beat accents on PGR is righteous awesomeness.

Miles, I thought long and hard about all this after I'd made the decision to step out from a 30 year career as a sideman to doing my own thing. Using just the one amp, no pedals and telecasters was a way of me trying to define 'my sound' rather than the sound someone else wants, or is required for a particular type of track. I think the #102 Dumble definitely has a unique sound and I've found it very versatile too, there were times when I wanted to grab a strat and my JTM45 or Trainwreck but I resisted the temptation. A strat instantly can put you in that SRV/Hendrix/JM 'box' so that's a reason I went with Tele's .

It's just the start of a solo journey for me and I'm pleased with my composition and playing on this project, and I can feel and hear my own 'voice' as a guitarist starting to come together..... I already have half the next one written.

Getting it out there above all the 'noise' in this day and age is going to be the biggest hurdle I think.

I totally get the sound. Too many people think they know a perfection they chase all over withiut a signature thing. I like the way it is what it is. The tone you ended up at is very near a high-strung baritone the way it bites into the lowend and rings acoustically.

thanks, they are indeed a great band

only sad note to mention is that the studio I recorded it in with the lovely Hammond C3 is now closing after 45 years.....a sign of the times. Real estate prices have forced them out. I'm hoping I can get in there for the follow up album before it really shuts' it's doors for good.


It's now up on Spotify, Apple music, iTunes, amazon, google etc …. there's still a few of the limited edition triple digi pack CD's left for the purists who like a physical product.

thanks to anyone/everyone who's bought a download or CD, without this I wouldn't be able to make another as the streaming sites give so little return it's basically giving it away and even with my own studio to mix in and do overdubs, it's still a costly exercise to make a record well.
