Switch

Post by mrn1ngstr »

Im building an express. Its not 100% orthodox, and one of the things I want is to do differently is replace the standby switch and the power switch with a DPST, Off-Standby-ON.

I want to go from A, to B. Im just trying to make sure I do not fudge the wiring. I know A is correct, and I believe B is how it *should* be wired. Other people's eyes, please take a look.

Thanks, but thats not the part of which I'm uncertain. Where everything else meets at the lamp junction is what I'm wondering about. I understand how the switch itself functions.

Drawing "B" is correct but is drawn upside down compared to the pic in the link I posted. So just be sure you are using the correct side of the switch. If it doesn't operate as expected, move the AC to the left side of your drawing and the B+ to the right side of your drawing. Or just use your ohm meter to verify which side is which.

The pic I drew is how the switch looks when installed and the amp is flipped over- basically the viewpoint I have while working on it. When you flip the whole thing back over, its oriented the way he shows it in the pic.

There's a simple way to tell. The switch body was made to accommodate six lugs as on a DPDT. When looking at the switch, if the two empty lug spaces are on the top then AC connects on the left and B+ connects on the right.

I was looking through and realized I had not followed up on this. The wiring for the off-stby-on switch I drew worked just fine. Now Im just chop-sticking to chase some crackle elsewhere. Thanks for the help.
