Wow. That is a big man. Contributed hugely to pop music. What a great synthesis he made with his classical/traditional training, clashing against The Beatles break-all-the-rules creativity. RIP.

I can't help but think that without George Martin, the Beatles might actually have been the Rutles.

Yep, he definitely gets credit for their sound, unlike Phil Spector, who was insane.
