Hi , does anyone add a send/return to a Marshall jtm45? where to place it?

If you are going to run the amp distorted thru any type of time based effect like reverb , echo or chorus it will sound like crap!
Go to a music store and try any amp with a loop out that way and decided for yourself!

It won't sound any worse than having it in front of the amp.

I put one in my JTM45 just because of how my pedal board is wired , I can switch between my Dumble and the Marshall with the same board now.


I put the loop in the same place as the dumble loop.

I could not get my metro FX loop to work properly in my JTM it was always noisy , I tried everything but took it out in the end and wired it up passive.

I fail to see benefit in an fx loop when there's only 2 gain stages in cascade prior to it?
To my thinking, the gain staging is such that any clipping that occurs prior to the loop will be inconsequential, that occurring after the loop will be far more intense and tonally significant.
The implementation pictured in the metroamp thread looked to be an invitation to parasitic coupling, with the loop board immediately above V1 / V2 sockets.

The loop goes after the EQ and before the phase inverter. I usually use a tube loop unless the space is tight, then I'll use a solid state loop.

You have that backwards. You want time based effects after distortion. Running them in front of distortion sounds like a muddy mess. After they are clean and clear. That's the whole reason effects loops started being installed on amps.

The best way to go is line loaded out to mix or rack, the only other way to go is loop and most guys using loops are never driving the power section into anything like full drive. It's great if you run amps up to around RMS like I do. If the tone starts going flat, I back off volume until tonal control is at it's peak, just under drive where the most dynamics are.

So it does depend. If I were you I would get a big honkin 8R resistor in a metal box and run a line out into whatever_and_power so you sound like the record.
