"Stock" refers to sheet material of a given finished thickness. Typically 3/4" or 19 mm plywood.

Hello --

On the 1x12" PDF linked it fairly clearly shows 3/4" ply stock. Review page 6. Some prefer birch but suggestion is to look for furniture quality pine ply. Getting good-both-sides might be a challenge to find except in specialty shops. Rona and Home Depot both have Chilean made Monterey Pine panels in good-one-side. Alternative for the basic box would be "finish quality" 3/4" knot-free pine board, though 12-3/4" width will require glueing up panels. Ply would still be recommended for the baffle and back, although the drawing calls for particle board. Doubtless someone might offer diverging advice. Perhaps the author of the PDF will join in.

Best ..

These days all the big boutique Dumble clone builders are using 3/4 in Baltic Birch plywood for the cabinet walls. I also use Baltic Birch for the baffles. The cabinets are all built with CNC machines and this type of wood works very well with the machines.

If you look around you will find companies in industrial areas that specialize in just selling wood. These are the best places to get wood.
Avoid any plywood from Big Box/Homedepot since most of it has voids and any Birch plywood they sell is only a veneer so you get 1 mm of Birch on the front and back and the rest is other types of wood ex. Spruce etc. Unfortunately good quality Birch only grows in Finland and Russia, this is the plywood you want if you want to go that way. To over come trade restrictions the wood is often shipped to China/Vietnam and then makes its way to North America,

The Pine boards from Homedepot are nice too because they have no voids.

Cheers

The manmall here sells good clear pine from New Zealand. 12" is the largest width however.
