Hello!Everybody.
I'm going to build one from RJ kits.
If anyone have correct outer foil direction pics of Rocket would be very nice before start building it.
Hope you can help.
Thanks
Plein.

Here's a good article courtesy of Randall Aiken on the subject :

Thank for your help!I read that article.Understand the concept.
I try to read rocket schemetic but also very confuse (ex.some cap went to b+ and other side went to ground). That why I ask for someone that already have outer foil guide or layout.
I'm a guitar maker,not dept in circuit.
Anyway,I did correct cap foil side in dumble clone and strongly hear the different in a good way.
Thanks,
Plein.

I marked with black the outer foil side coupling caps for TW Rocket.

Hey Plein,
I'm sorry I don't have a drawing. I'm assuming you've seen the orientation layout for the Dumble? The same principles apply, so you could compare schematics and layouts, perhaps?
Offhand, I can't think of any caps in the Rocket that go from B+ to gound, except for the electrolytic caps in the power supply, but those are different kind of caps.

Re: Trainwreck Rocket Outer foil direction?
Mark, should C9 be the other way, foil way from grid of PI?
Re: Trainwreck Rocket Outer foil direction?
MArk!!!
Thank a lot for your time of drawing!
It will be really help.
Smokebreak!!!
many thank for your try to help too.
My confusing go to something like c2.
one leg go toward b+5 and other go to ground via Volume.
please educate me what I misunderstand.
something like c9 as in aiken theory should go toward the pot as you said.
this is make me quite confuse too.
c2/c3/c5 should go toward the pre-tube,Am I right?
anyway,I'm very appreciate you all for your help

Re: Trainwreck Rocket Outer foil direction?
Here's my take on it, looking at this schematic : https://tubeamparchive.com/files/taylor ... 08_758.pdf
C2 : outer foil goes to the plate of the tube. Even though the other end goes to ground through the 500K pot, there will always be 500K resistance from the top of the pot to the bottom of the pot. It is only the wiper that changes, and when turned to "10" the cap would actually be touching the grid of the next stage
C3 : outer foil goes away from grid of V1a
C5 : I would put the outer foil toward the cathode, pin 3, of V2a, as by nature, the cathode follower is a low impedance source
C6,C7 : This gets tricky for me, as when the bass pot is turned all the way down, C7 is actually right at ground. I would orient the other foils toward the slope resistor(R8 ), but I'm not sure about these
C9 : There is no pot around there, so I'm not sure what you mean. I would put the foil towards ground, and away from the grid
C10, 11: towards plate
C12: I would put this towards pot, away from the grid
Hope that helps!
