12 inch light weight hi SPL guitar speaker'search

Post by Luuc »

Hi y'all,

The Celestion, Eminence (2x) and Jensen Neodymium 12 '' speakers for guitar are known to yours truly. Weber informed me they do not make these (any more.)

I bought an Eminence 'Tonkerlite' 8 ohms for an experiment. Has to do with finding out the limits of using a very light 'amp,' like nothing more (of weight I mean) than a 1 or a little more watt amp, as solid and simple as possible. No tone control, only tone of it's own. (No nano tubes, no KORG nutubes yet, just small ones as in pre stage.

Do you happen to know any other light 12'' speakers? Above mentionend are all neodymium. Of which ones only Eminence is really high in the spl dept. Sound is very good but I do not want to go there now, because it is a matter of taste, while the main thing for now is: light in weight.

Suggestions? and please, do not indulge me and other readers with advice like: 'the 10 inch by Weber (the 'JBL') is good too and even less heavy' or other kind words like that. Twelve inches is all I want (oh, watch out for the jokes now.)

the Jupiter neo would be high ranking on the 12'' lite long list.

Did an ample web search, listening to Shelby Lynne, then playing her 'Heaven's only days down the road' and then searching and so on. The song went well and I never found Jupiter and Telonics.

THANX! any more suggestions welcome. Neo LONGLIST for now:

-Jensen
-Celestion
-Eminence
-Jupiter
-Telonics
