Looking for...
Anybody know of a source for a good quality:
1MA 3/8" bushing solid shaft pot with a push pull switch?
I can live with SPST, but would prefer SPDT or DPDT.
Thanks,
Steve

Re: Looking for...
Great - that will do if it has to. Any SPDT or DPDT choices?
Re: Looking for...
That's when it gets sucky.
As far as I know the only push pull DPDT pots are those tiny pots (16mm?)

Don't let that smoke out!

Re: Looking for...
I wouldn't mind a 16mm pot so much, but I would really prefer a proper 3/8" bushing.
Re: Looking for...
I know the current Alpha push/pulls stocked by Allparts are 3/8" bushing. Part # EP-0286-000
They weren't always 3/8" so if it's from another supplier it might be smaller - even if it's the same part #. The part # never changed but the pots changed somewhere around 2009).

Re: Looking for...
Might check out Hoffman amps. doug also sells an washer,or bushing so you can use the smaller pots in a larger hole. He also has some pull pots.

Re: Looking for...
Cool info on the washers to center smaller pots. Thanks!!!
Also, the pic of 500k push/pull guitar pots on Hoffman's site sure look like they are the same Alpha pots Allparts sells but for $2 less. The pic sure looks like 3/8" bushing to me. Doug is SUPER fast to respond to emails and I'm sure he could verify the bushing size.

Re: Looking for...
Those pots on Doug's site are guitar pots (knurled shaft). I need solid shaft 1ma for an amp.
The washers are cool, but the 5/16 bushings tend to strip really easily.mtheybjust aren't made well. That's the main reason I prefer the 3/8" bushings.

Ooops....
I don't know why I was thinking 500k.
Sorry about that. The only place I know of that has 1M dpdt is Smallbear and they are indeed the smaller shaft.
Good Luck!

Re: Looking for...
Not sure of the quality of Alpa pots (never used them) but I will suggest staying away from the "Bourns" brand, as I've experienced them to be absolute JUNK! Good quality pots (especially "specialty" units) are getting quite difficult to find, unless you're willing to pay BIG $$$! like from this company:

Top notch stuff and "anything/everything" is available, but pretty danged pricey!
JMHO/YMMV,

Were they the ones with square lugs? I got a couple from mouser they had round lugs. They are pretty crummy looking but they are different than the ones I got before looked like these. http://www.apexjr.com/Bourns.htmThe Ballzz wrote:Not sure of the quality of Alpa pots (never used them) but I will suggest staying away from the "Bourns" brand, as I've experienced them to be absolute JUNK! I'm not sure but I believe some of the pots you linked to are manufactured by bourns

Bourns, like many old line electronic component companies, tried to resist the economic pressure to lower prices to meet offshore competition. The Ballzz wrote: I will suggest staying away from the "Bourns" brand, as I've experienced them to be absolute JUNK!
They failed.
The watchword for manufacturing in the 1990s and 2000s was that there were two kinds of companies - those that were manufacturing offshore, and those that were going bankrupt. Bourns and some others were able to pull up out of the dive before they hit ground, and get into offshore manufacturing.
Consumers in the USA will not pay for premium parts, at least not like they would at one time. It's a lesson that every businessman has to learn; otherwise, they're out of business.
