Anyone built a 2 hole Liverpool with a tube recto, I have a MC 18 watt set, With ss recto I'd be looking @ 330. 340 plate voltage but a ez81 would put me pretty close too LP voltagea. What's the highest voltages I'd wanna go? [/quote]

Hey Mark - 340 is fine for el84's. Check the bias.
Lotsa amps running with more on the plates. Vox & Boogie spring to mind.
I'd keep it below 375 for current production tubes.
Unless you use 7189's or 6p14p's - they are more robust.

Thanks bob. iI'm just wondering h how the liverpool will sound with the looser tube recto. I may use both ss and tube recto on a switch I really liked it in my 20 watt marshall.,

I have a test amp package that has both the Express and the Rocket power supplies wired up so that you can switch between them in real time. The output section is an Express so it's not exactly what you are asking about, but sorta... in short i don't care much for the flabby sound of the tube rectified lower voltage setting on this amp. Things might change a bit with EL84 tubes, i dunno for sure but it just sorta took the bite out of the amp.

In my Sweet-16 LP amps i run them with a 270-0-270 secondary on the PT using a SS rectifier with Saratov 6P14's in the output section... this is tone Nirvana for sure. Ill see if i have some voltage numbers somewhere but whatever they are, it makes my ears happy.
