The two hole pins are nice but the power tubes don't really have that many wires on them so it's not that critical to me.
Beltons are great I just hate the 30mm. You can use 1 1/4 but it has a bit of slop, so you have to line them up in the hole and be careful drilling the screw holes.
Didn't know Angela had them too, he's a few cents more than PConnex. PC has sales continuously, they do sockets like twice a year, if you plan on buying a bunch it's worth signing up for their email flyer and waiting for the 20% off.
Heater runs: I had a post about really low heater voltage I was getting when I was jumping a PT from outside the chassis with 24" alligator jumpers added to the twisted runs in the amp - I had ~5V instead of 6.3V. No one could figure it out and it took me three days before I realized it was the added length of the jumpers. They were crappy RS jumpers but were 20awg. I still can't believe what an effect an extra two feet could have.
Anyway, I twist using a drill and never paid attention to what the actual real length of the wiring run is - a lot of wire can looks like little. So, now I'm thinking if I ever have a long tightly twisted heater string maybe better 18awg.
Here's a Belton, McMurdo, QQQ if anyone cares:

Those Beltons fit nicely in a 1 3/16" hole. They also fit nicely in a 30.5mm hole done by a Greenlee step drill.

+1. I use a 1 3/16 step drill, works fine, no slop.
BTW PCX had the QQQ sockets 20% off sale when I ordered them, don't recall if it's still in effect.
Just remembered, if you like black octal sockets but don't like $5 each, look at Apex Jr website, Steve has Omron Japan phenolic at $1.99 each. And they DO have two holes as well!

Steve at Apex is the man. The Micalex Beltons have always been good for me, unless I need a NOS Cinch for the big grounding lug on them.

Good point. I recently stocked some 0.2R 5W resistors in the event I want to reduce heater voltage.rp wrote:Heater runs...I had ~5V instead of 6.3V...it was the added length of the jumpers
I build and repair tube amps. http://amps.monkeymatic.com
