plexi ot for express

Post by johnny riff »

Hello everyone, this is my first post.I would like to hear any thoughts about using a mercury 050jm ot for a express build i'm starting.pri=3k4.could I offset my speaker load, say run a 16ohm cab on the 8ohm setting =6k8 to get closer to the spec 6k6. or I have a heybeor 30w 5k ot .any feedback would be greatly appreciated.ps this is a great place w/ tons of helpful info. thanks a million John

Dear John!

I guess it is better, to run 16 Ohm Speaker into 8 Ohm setting. Then you double your reflected load.
At least this iron should work as regards the wattage.
The express gurus will surely comment on the IDEAL (?) plate load.

Edit: 6.8 k is close enough. Impedance of your speaker is frequency dependant and not constant 16 Ohms. YMMV.

Ciao

There are a whole lot of folks around here with more experience than me but I don't think you'll ever hear a difference between the 5K heybour and a 5.2K anything. It should work fine.
