Rocket Reservoir Cap

Post by mikeBoone »

I cant be the first person to ask this, but why is the Rocket designed with 80uF of capacitance on the reservoir cap when the max spec for a GZ34 is 60uF?

Back when I rolled a couple of rockets I searched and read the wealth of discussion here.
My take on it is that the maximum ratings are (taking a look at the data sheet for this and other tube rectfiers) for maximum use conditions. I don't see the Rocket circuit as being too demanding for the GZ34, so there is wiggle room.

But, KF did supply what is generally accepted as the very best GZ34.
