What?! You mean *me*?? You gotta be kidding... :o With the gray hair coming in, more like Colonel Sanders...

And, yep, my back yard looks like yosemite now... So, nature walk it is! I should have gotten the waterfall in the pictures. At risk of seeming like a true CA tree hugger, I have a waterfall with granite boulders and it looks like a tiny, tiny bridal-veil falls.

The video looks like it is easier to control than a tradition wood burner.
But then.. does anyone here like to do DIY projects :?:

Not guts, no glory  You walk out in the sun most every day, but you don't look at it, do you   Did you have a BB gun :?: It's not much different than protecting yourself from a welding flare.

Paul,

What do you use to fasten the front panel to the chassis? glue? double stick tape?

Nothing but all the hardware itself. 1/8" of wood is plenty strong enough that it doesn't need anything else. Same is true for the 1/16" laser etched plastics. On the rear, where there sometimes isn't enough hardware, I sometimes tape and sometimes bolt the plastic to the chassis. You can see two screws on the right side of this one:

Hey, that's my amp! I just put two XF2s in her last night, sounding better than ever.

Why yes it is. :) I've been wondering if the GT proprietary tubes are really any different than good ol' JJ E34L. Do you really like them better? I have a low tolerance for hype and over-sell so it's very hard for me to actually read a page at GT's website without giving up and heading elsewhere. I'm perfectly willing to pay for something that delivers but just not willing to put in the effort when it look mostly like hype. Since you took the effort... :)

Ummmm, actually they're REAL XF2s, Philips branded, not GTs. They sound amazing. A few months back a friend that works at our Music-Go-Round called because they bought a crapload of amps from a local collector that died. My buddy gave me about 7 Mullard branded 12AX7s and a couple 12AU7s from some of those amps for helping him sort through all of the crap and get them working! Woo Hoo! I thought I was going to have to spend millions of dollars to get some real Mullards but I got lucky. I was always skeptical that NOS Mullards were THAT much better than new production tubes like JJs but now I know, they're WAY better than I ever thought they could be.

I actually forgot to take guts pics. (Doh!) Had to get it out in a hurry for use at a gig this Friday. It's still in transit...

By the way, in case anyone wants to email me, you need to use the contact page at my website. I'm changing my email address weekly since the freakin spammers keep grabbing it.
Found a guts pic that I forgot I even took...

I bent the chassis in my garage myself and then used durafix to "weld" the corners. It's really more like soldering with a torch but works really well.

Great looking amp there Paul - as usual.

And thanks for the Durafix tip - looks like neat stuff :D . I thought welding aluminum required a heliarc setup.
