New Alnico Creamback
Just saw this in one of my trade mags and thought I would share. 90 watt alnico looks pretty sweet
Re: New Alnico Creamback
Thanks for posting that. Those do look pretty sweet, but I can't find any info about them. Guess I'll have to wait.

It seems to have the same weight as the Blue and Gold, so same magnet?
Good news to see that they're bowing to common sense with the 8 hole frame!

I can make out 'Ipswitch England' on the label.
I'm guessing the higher wattage coil will make it less bright.

Yes, comparing the charts of the Gold and Cream, the Gold seems to have a more extended top end. But the Gold is a bright speaker, moreso perhaps than the Blue.

Re: New Alnico Creamback
As we (I) discovered in another thread somewhere, the Celestion label on Chinese-made speakers also says, "Ipswitch, England." It's only the English-made speakers that say, "MADE in Ipswitch, England."Cantplay wrote:I can make out 'Ipswitch England' on the label.

Bah, wish they'd make a proper Silverback reissue.
Re: New Alnico Creamback
Hmmm, when I had a gander at the Celestion site, I couldn't find it, even after inputting the proper search criteria. Thanks for the link!pdf64 wrote:http://celestion.com/product/151/Celestion_Cream/

Re: New Alnico Creamback
I looked at a few others in that link. I didn't see any that have Made in England on the label. There are those with the Ipswich England address, and others that just read Celestion International. I would assume the former are made in England and the latter in China.
I sure hope so as I just ordered a G12 Blue for my Maggie 113 build. I would hate to see that is now being made in China.
FWIW the Heritage speakers have the Ipswich address too.

Re: New Alnico Creamback
Loss leaders as credibility enhancers, like the USA made Fenders and Gibsons. IMO all these companies would dump their trivial 'old world' production for 100% overseas but they still need the brand authenticity that 'made in UK/USA' still gives them. Give it one more generation, unless a zero carbon future ups the cost of all this corporate transplanted production.FWIW the Heritage speakers have the Ipswich address too.
Big 80-100W alnicos must be selling, everyone seems to have one now.
Re: New Alnico Creamback
Pdf64, when you say that the Gold is brighter than the Blue, is this your personal experience? I ask because this does not seem to mirror other reviews I have read.
Most people stall out when fixing a mistake that they've made. Why?

UPDATE on G12 Blue
Just received my G12 Blue speaker. Address on label is Celestion International, Ipswich, England. Box has a sticker on it marked Made in UK. See pix, also cone code # and what looks like a date code (17J2) which makes no sense.
The paint is a much darker blue than they used to be. Flash picture doesn't show what it looks like in daylight.
I'm not quite convinced yet!
