Kimbro Davis different amp?

Post by LeftyStrat »

I've read the threads on a '77 combo, but this seems to be a different amp. Was this the same amp moved to head only?

Sorry if this has been posted, but search didn't bring this up:

I'm not sure but thanks for turning me on to Point Blank. My goodness those are some rockin tones. Any idea what they were using, especially Rusty?

Rusty and Kim were both playing through Lab Series L5 amps on top of 4x12 cabs.

Yup, I messaged Rusty last nite via FB. Nice guy. He said he and Kim alternated between the L5s and Marshalls, usually leaning towards the L5s, as they were "much more flexible". He also said the dirt was all amp. His guitar was a '53 LP and Kim's a '58.

Lefty, sorry to step on your thread. I thought the transition from SS to Dumble was kinda interesting.

Kimbo Davis had 2 dumbles that I know of. He owned the 50 watt combo number 077 (originally made for Terry Haggerty), which was recently sold through heritage auctions from the Kimbo Davis estate a few years ago, and more recently was re-sold. The head that is currently on reverb is Kimbo Davis' other dumble.
