Lot's of old information or misinformation here. The lack of range is an OLD and conquered problem. Most mice produced in the last 5 to 7 years use a 2.4GHz com link. No range issues under 100 ft or so.

Newer mice, again in the last 5 to 7 years, do not have any crosstalk issues with neighboring mice and com links. Been solved.

No way to supercharge the comm link in an existing mouse that I know of. Antennas and matching are pretty well optimized. Get one with a 2.4GHz link.

Standard Bluetooth is a power hungry link. Sucks for most wireless apps IMO. I would not recommend it or use it myself. The proprietary 2.4GHz link in LT wireless devices, mice and keyboards, is far superior. Bluetooth LE, low energy, is much more power efficient than standard bluetooth. The problem with BLE is that it is a newer standard and not many devices have it built-in. I would never recommend a bluetooth mouse. BLE may become more sensible, but only after it gets built-in to a significant number of devices...if that ever happens.

I like the small mice. But my younger brother, who is a full-time programmer, has to use an expensive trackball to avoid sore hand muscles.

I was also involved in the first trackball design. We leapfrogged to the optical mouse from the trackball. Instead of tracking on the engineered surface of ball, the optical mouse tracks on 'any' surface. Well not any, but most.

BTW, optical mice don't track the same on all surfaces and the battery life is not the same on all surfaces. Tracking is generally better on formica or textured type surfaces. Not so good on shiny surfaces like a mirror. Stay off of copy paper. If the tracking is 'funny' try another surface. They making gaming surfaces which are usually very good for tracking. Battery life is usually best on lighter colored surfaces.

I've had my Logitech Rechargeable Mouse and Keyboard set for 7/8 Years. Only issue I get is it won't charge unless I remove the battery for a few seconds and then put it back in again. I THINK its something to do with my iPhone being next to it as it seems to drain quicker when I do that.

This M510 mouse I've been using for a couple of years, battery life for two AAs is well over four months. Wow. I use this thing 40 hours or more every week!

I decided I needed a Logitech G600 for my gaming days. I love that mouse...I don't use the side buttons now, but man, it is so comfortable in my hand.

I feel like I just rocketed into the 21st century. My almost new (open box) Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse arrived today. The MK520 combo includes the M310 mouse and K520 keyboard. Aside from getting used to the extra spring in the keys, this is going to be measurably better to use!

Here's to VK for doing his part to make this happen!

BTW, I looked on the bottom of the old keyboard and I see that I'm retiring "Microsoft Wireless MultiMedia Keyboard 1.1" That weird timewarp feeling set in for a minute. Gotta say, I got my money's worth.
