DeOxit BLAST!!!
I like this stuff for cleaning pots. But even after adjusting the "variable" nozzle to "low", the smallest shot I can manage is about 10 times as much as I need or want. Anyone else experience this?

Sounds like you need an attenuator.

I don't have a solution, but I have experienced it...if it makes you feel better.
Electronic equipment is designed using facts and mathematics, not opinion and dogma.
Re: DeOxit BLAST!!!
Yepper, it's all too common with this type of product. I used to use products like this when I was a Navy electrician - contact cleaner, water displacement sprays, etc. I think I finally just got over the overspray issue, and started hosing equipment down with the stuff. Who knows, maybe there's a niche market for an aerosol attenuator.
Hmmm, I wonder if you could just smash the tube a lil' bit with pliers. I've never tried it, but if you have spare spray tubes, you might give it a shot.

Re: DeOxit BLAST!!!
I already modded the spray tube so I could get a 90-degree angle. Far easier to spray into some pots that way.
Yeah, I think that's a good idea. Mod a spray tube for a finer, smaller aperture.
I'll set up a new web store for spray tube modders. Spraytubegarage.com.

And here I thought it was just me not reading the owners manual after I soaked the whole area down try to clean some pots.
Re: DeOxit BLAST!!!
Funny, I just looked once more at the image of the can and noticed "Flushing Action" highlighted on the label. Truth!M Fowler wrote:And here I thought it was just me not reading the owners manual after I soaked the whole area down try to clean some pots.
P.S. and OBTW: Probably NOT a good idea to smoke while using this product. (Hint: It is also flammable.)
Re: DeOxit BLAST!!!
Definitely no smoking when using faderlube.
For smoking, I use this:

Ahhhh, yeah. Ethanol-o-licious!

Re: DeOxit BLAST!!!
Got heat shrink? Superglue? Skinny piece of wire? Here's what I do, with a new, clean plastic "snorkel" spray pipe, park the wire in one end, tiny dot of superglue on the outside of the plastic tube. Slide a little piece of narrow heatshrink over the end with the wire sticking thru. Let the superglue set then heat up the heatshrink. Slide the wire out. Your new aperture will be the wire diameter. Repeat as necessary.
Tried it without glue, and spray pressure blows the HST off the end.
Flushing action, indeed. When Cramolin-in-a-can was introduced, the can was printed "the less you use the better it works." Then the marketing department took over. Flush this!
Good ol' Cram, with freon propellant you could spray it in a live AC switch, no problem. NOW contains naptha aka lighter fluid. Great solvent but . . . no smoking, no sparks, no open flames please. Definitely don't spray into powered switches.
xtian has a photo - that's in my shop too - nice mix of solvents but so far no damage to plastics or anything but my brain... another "no sparks" spray. Good for removing flux residue too - if it doesn't respond to straight ethyl alky - I soak a Q-tip in this stuff & scrub-a-dub-dub. With a good breeze going past.

It's fascinating stuff to get on your fingertips. When it dries, you think you've got white residue on your fingers. But NO, that's just the color of your skin with all the oils washed off!

Re: DeOxit BLAST!!!
Duh! I didn't even know Faderlube had a flow control nozzle! It is good stuff tho'.
Re: DeOxit BLAST!!!
saw a guy blow himself up and go to the hospital after the paper shredder exploded.P.S. and OBTW: Probably NOT a good idea to smoke while using this product. (Hint: It is also flammable.)
he thought he would clean it out since it was a bit jammed - bit oll electric cleaner should do it.....of course that stuff also sinks, and collects in pails like shredder baskets.....
then when you run a paper shredder - them metal bits make sparks...
suffice to say poor guy had no more eyebrows, blackened head to toe - and off to the hospital....
careful - those things can take out an eye!
it really is a journey, and you just cant farm out the battle wounds

Yup, D-5 & F-5 cans, maybe others too, twist the nozzle all the way counterclockwise.David Root wrote:Duh! I didn't even know Faderlube had a flow control nozzle! It is good stuff tho'.
Another mod for the delivery tube: I had a plastic applicator tip from a crazy glue bottle, never did use it. Just jammed this tiny long funnel on the plastic tube, it's got a bend for fitting into pot slots & wherever else AND chokes down the diameter. Friction fit, so far so good.

Re: DeOxit BLAST!!!
I went years wasting canned aerosol cleaners and solvents- then my buddy showed me these
http://www.fabricationtoolsandmaterials ... s/aasa.htm
you fill a dispensing bottle with whatever solvent you see fit and the small metal needles get right in there, waste less cleaner/lube and it does a better job, saves the time you spend mopping up the excess cleaner too
I have 3 different de-oxit products in these currently, no issues!
deoxit also sells most of their solvents in non aerosol form as well..
not what you would call cost effective, but if you factor in the waste that happens with the aerosol can you get more bang for your buck.

Those bottles look perfect! Thanks!
