RIP Paul Revere

Post by Structo »

Paul Revere and the Raiders founding member has died.

The Raiders were from the Northwest and had a number of hits.
They also played frequently on the Dick Clark Bandstand show.
The group kept gigging until this year.
Over the 40 or so years, members came and went.
Mark Lindsay was probably the best and well known vocalist for the band.

Among their charting hits:

Kicks
Hungry
Good Thing
Just Like Me
Indian Reservation
Good Thing.

RIP Paul

Hate to come off apocryphal, but this is the start...or maybe Jon Lord was. The next ten years will make us cry too often over a generation of guys and gals who took care of their livers well enough to get into their 70's intact.

They were the first concert I ever went to. My sister took me. I still want a vox guitar.
I've got blisters on my fingers!

I remember listening to them via my mom's 45s... Sad.

We used to play several of their songs in my first band. I still have 4 or 5 on my ipod for late night listening, and they hold their own.

I'm sure it a generation thing, but I think their music still sounds good. A little attitude, good arrangements, front man, and writers.

I learned a lot from Paul by attending several concerts at the Oregon State Fair - he always told the story of the band, it's evolution and why he stayed in LV instead of making more records (because he made better money without all those fat cats in LA). One of my bands played a couple of his tunes and I am sorry to hear of his passing on.
