Deluxe yeeyee

Post by Reeltarded »

My Deluxe was untended for a long time. I can't upload pics because Apple screws everyone with ios8, but I did get a picture to work on photobucket.

Best work I have ever done. Someone else had been in there looks like one time. I was surpirsed to find 100uf of the 1st node eating my Mullard. I removed that tube and went with a 5u4 and that was a good move. I like it relaxed.

I had coffee and it was late so I stayed up all night blueprinting the circuit from the output backwards. I ran out of coffee around the PI.

I can't find my lil output tube stash. Damnit!

I never intended to actually do this so I didn't get any before shots. It sounds really great!

I need a trem bug. This one is 5%! Sucks!!

Nice. I just finished sourcing parts and now I'm about to crack open my '67 DR and bring it back to stock. Great little amps.

Controls set bass 5 treble 3.2 volume 4.8 and reverb barely cracked is clean sustain. Damn this amp is really good now!

Back to the Bandmaster front! There's a war on!

A few things you may want to consider....

There is a max capacitance value for tube rectifiers and I believe 60uF or there abouts is the most a GZ34 or a 5U4 can handle. You should check the data sheet of the tube you're using to be sure... 100uF? yea that's too much...

Also is your Deluxe the kind that has a 5U4 as a STOCK value, or does the tube chart have a GZ34 / 5AR4 as the standard tube?

If the GZ34 is your stock tube and your using a 5U4 in it's place, the 5U4 heaters draw 3 amps a GZ34 draws only 2 amps so your going over current on your PT by 1 amp and will fry your PT sooner or later....

I know you know this, but you don't want 100uF on the rectifier. Where's the B+? Take the 220Ks on the grids down. It makes 'em sound like they did when the wall was 110VAC.Thank me later.
