I don't get the infatuation with the details that are so weird...long coiled guitar cable, lefty strat played righty..these are IMO simply artifacts of the era in which Jimi lived, not really part of his act.

Nothing wrong with tribute bands.

Nothing wrong with having Billy Cox as your bass player while you cover the the song either.

Also I think strat played upside down was part of his act, Jimi played the entire instrument. The bridge pickup altered placement, tickling the pickup selector switch and having the tremolo bar closer to his left hand, he used that weird geometry to his advantage.

Yeah, the pickup staggers are all different. César Díaz even claimed the sixties-style headstock made a difference in the sustain.

Supposedly those curly cables have a lot of capacitance and cuts off some of the brittleness of the Strat.

I do think guys get caught up in the mystique and trying to duplicate every little detail. Hendrix would still sound like Hendrix playing a Les Paul into a Fender twin.
