I read on FB a few weeks ago that it was a stroke. It was on FB so I kinda dismissed it at the time because there are so many hoax's on FB but maybe ......

Love that band. Seen them many times from back in the 80's to the Black Ice tour a few years back. Took my boys to see 'em! Unfortunately I never got to see Bon Scott. I'll say it again LOVE THAT BAND!

Comes a time, for some, when it makes sense to hang up those rockin' shoes. Shorts too, for Malcolm. Fantastic guitar tones & rippin' recordings. Never got to see 'em live, I'm sure ACDC were impressive indeed.

I hope he'll recover, be well, and able to enjoy his retirement as long as he wants.

Sad news indeed, I had heard similar comments that it was a stroke.
AC/DC was one of the most influential bands of my generation, although I lost interest in them after the passing of Bon Scott.

Very sad indeed, he was a fantastic guitarist and could play lead just as good as Angus per an interview with Angus.

Never a big fan, but I worked at an AC/DC show, and I will say, they are a damn good band.
No bullshit, they rocked.
Good thoughts to Malcolm, an excellent player.

Very sad news. Saw them twice back in the 80's. Both were great shows. I love their no BS approach. It would be almost impossible for them, IMO, to replace Malcolm, as it's been said he was the originator of most of their classic riffs and songs. They might get a different guitarist to fill in for a tour, but songwriting and album making? I doubt it.

On a side note: a buddy of mine used to do backstage catering for some big concerts. Back in the day ('76 or '77 or so), AC/DC came to town, opening for Aerosmith. And he met both bands, and mentioned that Aerosmith were a bunch of SOB's and prima-donna's (mind you, to be fair, it was during their coked-up phase ), but that AC/DC were the nicest, most down to earth guys he said he'd ever met in all his time working concerts. It seems to me that they've always maintained that attitude. Hope Malcolm finds some comfort.

P.S. - For what it's worth, he also met Ted Nugent once at one of those shows, and thought he was a total d-bag! (just his opinion)

I hope that article regarding his state of Dementia isn't true. Sounds like hes pretty far gone already! Then again I have a few relatives who suffer from Dementia and believe me it can take years for you to notice something is up. Starts with them doing things slightly differently to normal or doing something odd that you can't get your head around, next thing you know you walk in one day and they ask 'Who are you?'. Terrible terrible illness. Even more so that it has stopped the guy from doing what he loves.

My mother has Alzheimer's and lives in assisted care.

She is healthy, it's just her brain and total lack of short term memory.

I first noticed something off when she started putting 'post it' notes all over the house.

I hope they find a cure for it soon, it is a insidious disease that takes your loved one's mind away.

I am only speaking for myself here, but if I am ever stricken with this disease, I hope that I can take my own life before I lose the mental ability to do so.
