I made it through :51, and quit

I was going to respond, but felt perhaps I'd missed something.

One more try, made it to the attempt at the high (?) note at 1:28 or so...

Sorry, not my cup of tea.

I'm sure he'll be fabulously successful.

Once he learns to sing.
And play guitar.
( possibly interchangeable sequence sing/play, or play/sing... )

And kills the drummer...

Bob

p.s. I went back once more, as I was nonplussed at hating this...
I was right.
Vocal at 2:52 curled hair.

I'll prolly skip this guy...

Well "vive la différence." I don't consider it mainstream. Before Letterman had him, he was pretty obscure. Kid is only 21 and perhaps I like his potential more than the actual performance. Just nice to see young ones explore roots, and no, I don't find him derivative of the Black Keys.

Robin Ford sounds like dentist office music to me. I'd rather listen to "Music for Airports" than anything he has ever done.

I guess I just don't like chrome. Wabi-sabi.

I was in a band 20 years or so ago with Eric Lindell, he is what I think of when it comes to Louisiana roots music, he deserves to be heard more.

Not for me... I can't understand the lyrics at all... He needs to spit out the marbles and try again. What about that drummer? Talented? Maybe... but did his mom dress him? I watched the whole thing though. It was like a train wreck and I couldn't look away. So there is that.

Sorry to rip on him Lefty, but I promise I will listen to what you post like that. I don't want to be closed minded and miss out on something that could be my new favorite.

Hipsters - hamsters... Very good one, matt!

Well, what isn't derivative now days? It has all pretty much been done at this point.

As we get older, I think we should all be opening our minds to new forms of art. My son was playing some Eminem the other day. I was digging on some of it. The guy has an imagination and a talent. You have to stay long enough to recognize it. That being said, that Booker guy can be found in the record bin under what? Anti-music or out-of-tune wanking, I know, garage poo? Maybe he is out of tune on purpose and I didn't give him the proper artistic credit. That's not so easy to do for those of us that have ears. Honestly, I think that guy is tone deaf, but maybe I need to listen to more of his stuff before making a rash decision.

One thing is true, there is no accounting for taste. Mine sucks and so does yours. And that's a good thing.

I like Courtney Barnett. That Avante Gardener song is fun.

I think Frank Zappa had a vision of John Mayer in the crystal ball when he said "Shuttup and play yer guitar!"
