Miles, you have that on good authority I take it? Palmer as a speaker load or line level out of the pre? That's interesting news to me. I haven't heard that before.

Are you talking about a specific concert?

It changes. I saw another gear review (Brian Wilson/Jeff Beck tour) of Jeff Beck's stage setup, and he had the heads sitting atop speaker cabinets on stage, but most of the amplifier outputs were running to speaker cabinets located off stage and mic'd. This was to maintain the "look" but keep stage SPLs down.

I believe the Lexicon device is the Alex model, not PCM70.

It does change constantly. He uses a Palmer from the output into a mixer and out to big power and cabs. That is the modern Jeff Beck sound you like. Notice that his volume hardly changes when he rolls back to clean.obviously it's mixed to whatever format, but what you hear pretty much is what comes out of his stage rig.

Awesome comes out of his stage rig.

The real secret is a 3 gallon can of tomatoes from Costco, drained and cut in half, label removed, and put in front of a Blues Junior.

But it also needs a robot eye.

Reeltarded nailed it. Reamped through larger system. Steve Prior (tech) controls some of his switching (clean to scream), foldback dude controls delays reverbs etc. Beck likes lexicon reflex for somethings which he controls on the fly and the usual wah, flange, ring mod, etc. great tone, and those hands have been doing it for 60 years. Good luck.

Someone gave me tickets to a show just the other day. Crap.

Jeff Beck may continue at some point, they say.

Damn, when rock stars start breaking hips, that is a sad commentary on the guys that pioneered rock.
And maybe worse, my own mortality.
