Dr. Alpert . I think he later changed his name to Baba Dass Rom or something like that.

Baba Rom Das aka Dr. Richard Alpert. He wrote "Be Here Now" among others. Contemporary of Leary's and similar circles. Personally, I was more a follower of William Burroughs, Jack Kerouac, and that gang along with Alan Ginsberg, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, and their friends. They considered Leary a bit juvenile. However, I'd love to see/hear him speak.

quite an understatement - leary and thompson crawling around on the floor playing catch with a bottle of chivas regal - and of course in the audience making jokes and whatnot - and the 1/2 gall of vodka plus whatever elese they were enjoying that night. Hunter was so drunk he fell down like a 100 times.They considered Leary a bit juvenile
