Getting ready to go build crazy!

Post by Curranproducer »

OK, I sold off my JSX, and I am going to build a couple more amps for my studio!!!! i am thinking of doing the rocket AND the Liverpool. dropping PPIMV in both of them, doing the rocket boost from RJ, AND dropping FX loops in them as well. I am also going to FX loop the Express I build a few weeks ago. Clearly I am embracing the madness(must be all the solder I am eating with ragu). IF I build the rocket I am going to return my AC30 back to stock, I did mod the beast to resemble a Rocket, BUT it had the classic tone AC30 trannies in there so I KNOW the voltages are way off from the Rocket and the power filter section is not even close. I am also going to try the edcor trannies for these two builds. So which ones would be better to use for these two amps. I have the tranny chart that you guys assemble and RJ has them listed on his site BUT what is the best way to go. I am a metal guy as most of you know by now, so I do enjoy lots of gain, but I really like way I can do with this express for my Solo stuff(high gain but dynamic awesomeness) some one needs to burning bush me on this! part the skies and raise the seas to offer me a new level of tone salvation!

oof i need to lay off the flux toothpaste

Well, if you're at all a fan of Heyboer, I posted a big PT for either of the amps you're looking to build and should get you right where you'd like to be. For a Rocket, I also have the proper Hammond 15H choke. Just saying.

Sounds like fun. :)

There's a pic of the one I used in my Rocket build, but the one I'm selling is brand new, in the box. I posted the specs.

For both the PT and the choke, I'd say we can look at $130 plus shipping. The PT is in the Heyboer box and I've not opened it. The way they pack things, I'm not sure opening it and putting the choke in there would be a good idea. I'll shoot a PM your way and we'll talk more details.

You gotta an AC30 already what you should do is a Rockster, RJ's octal Rocket. I built one with KT66's and when we get together to jam it's the amp everyone wants use. I put in PPIMV too and it sings.

Right now working on a 2 EL84 Liverpool so I can get my Rockster back!

In theory, theory is the same as practice. In practice it's different.

Also note the rj has that in head form or combo format with or without reverb. Very good products. :)
