2 New Wrecks in Process

Post by dartanion »

Hey Folks,

I spent tonight populating the boards for my Liverpool and Express type builds. These will feature the SE/PP control like my 18watt LP build, but I am leaving the CF switch off for now. It's a very subtle effect as is, so I need time to tweak it. I've got the cabs done, which turned out really cool. I have also changed some of the values, but they are still within real Wreck specs.

I have 3 different OT options for these amps. Heyboer, Ceriatone, and TDS. Any recommendations as to which OT to use for these 2 amps. I have one each of the Heyboer and TDS and 2 Ceriatone. Is there one that will sound better with either amp?

I will also be trying out some of the new Mullard 12AX7 and EL84s in the Liverpool. I have a bunch of options for the Express. Any recommendations from the following choices for power tubes?

EH 6CA7, new prod(np) Mullard EL34, NOS 6V6GTs, np Tung Sol 6V6GTs, JJ 6V6GTs, NOS 6V6Gs, NOS 6EZ5s, EH 7591A, and various 6L6s

I will be showing these 2 amps at the Amp Show on Oct. 6th if anyone cares to come by. I'll be setup with Rocco at the Brown-note room.

OK, where's the amp show, what are the details and I'll meet up with you guys. I'm back home on the boat in SSF finally.

Hi Dan,

It is in Van Nuys on Oct. 6th. If you are interested in carpooling down there, I'll be leaving on Friday the 5th. I'm just down the road from you in RWC. PM me if you are interested in carpooling.

The only trannies I have experience with in a TW are Mooses, which came from Heyboer. If that is what you have, I'd say use it - the amp I built from that iron is spectacular.

Since I haven't wired it up yet, I'll pop the Heyboer in there tonight before she gets wired.

Do you have any experience with the TDS Wreck OT? Got one of those too, plus the 2 Ceriatones.
