The Stout is an excellent sounding high gain variant of the classic 18-watt. Quite simple, easy to build.

Am I reading this correctly? The layout says 300v PT and a 5V4 but the schematic shows a 240v PT and a 5Y3.
Any ideas on this? Thanks for any help.

Hoffman did several versions of the 18watt Stout. They are in his Library of Information along with numerous soundclips that he did. He even has photos of the builds.

The first Stout may have been a converted mono amp & he later posted schematics etc... for using his 18w PT & OT?

You can always post on the Hoffman forum to get some feedback on this amp if you need to.

With respect, 10thtx

The layo is for a very early build, the schemo for more or less the current version, which uses an Heyboer PT with a 290-0-290 secondary.

I know this is an old topic

Just wanted to say that I just finished doing new layout diagrams for all my Hoffman boards, including the Hoffman Stout and reverb Stout.

They are all done in PDF format and the quality is really nice and scalable.

Check out the new Stout diagram here.

I fired up my 18 watt stout yesterday through my 4 x 12 Marshall cabinet
I have to say that it is still one of my favorite amps

Okey, dokey

It's the 18 watt Stout project on this page
http://el34world.com/schematics.htm

There's four pages of build info and photo's
http://el34world.com/projects/18WattStout_4.htm

It started life as a Seeburg Jukebox amp

If I didn't already have a 2/el84 build , I'd do this in a second!
