VVR3 placement

I'm cramped for space with my vvr. And I'm wondering if it would be OK to for the heater wires to pass over the transistor screwed to the chassis. (See pic)

Or can I place the transistor somewhere else and just extend it with wires?

Yes, you can extend the wires and move the transistor.

I'm having a problem finding a place to ground the second 1M resistor for the VVR3 mod.

Wherever i put the the wire to ground the 1M resistor, i get some high pitch hum.

Any suggestions?

Let me know how you get on with this as I want to build an Express with VVR too. It seems the best way of controlling the volume, power soaks seem to be a real hit and miss affair, and the upside is VVR is easier on the tubes.
