Wife and kids said "go pick out an acoutic guitar for Fathers day." So I came home with this Taylor 214ce Sunburst Deluxe...good enough for me.

Now there's a family value I can heartily support! Or non-family, or a loose affiliation of friends... as long as you wind up with the nice acoustic.

If I didn't have kids I could afford ten of those

Cbass, I have a theory that my kids can tell to the penny how much cash I have in my pocket the instant I walk in the door, and they need everything except the final $.05. I sometimes feel like my family's most dependable major appliance, except I'm depositing the coins into them.

Finished these two slope shoulder Dreadnaughts last month. Red spruce tops with 40 YO pattern makers Honduran back, sides, neck. One is a slot head. Scalloped braces except for the treble side of the X, which is full depth. J45 body shape with basic Martin brace pattern. 1 3/4" nuts. Nitro lacquer.

Nice stuff! Love the color too.
Have you ever reversed the bracing?

A couple of real beauties! Clear pickguards make for a very clean look. If I had to choose, I'm partial to the blonde. Hope they are going to good homes!

Very nice! I like the clear pickguard look. I have a very big warm spot in my heart for slope shoulders, particularly 12 frets, as I've been playing a 1971 Martin D-28-S since new. If I had a nickle for every person who's played it and then offered to buy it, I could even afford a pound of steak, though not by much these days.
My 1997 Larrivee jumbo cut-away has the clear pickguard.

Thanks everyone. One went to Colorado. One to Wales. The sunburst is not as opaque as it looks in the photo.
Miles, What is reverse bracing? Guess I've never done that.

The pair of secondaries out of the X go from the bass to the treble side instead of the normal way. Try it on one of the next pair.
Man those things need small guards. Real turtles!!

Oh I see what you mean. Some Gibsons had different numbers of transverse braces. One or two, or two or three. I can't remember.
