I couldn't agree more! I'll get back with you shortly and give you an address to send them...to get them tested.Mainetone wrote:they need to be tested curious how they would be have in a liverpool

Seriously, though, I would imagine they would sound anywhere from great to superb in a liverpool. All that gain! I must confess that I haven't had any personal experience with the smooth variety, my audiofool bro-in-law swears by them. Creamy, he says...neutral, he says.
One thing I do believe in wholeheartedly, is that every good 'wreck style amp deserves an NOS in V1.

I think they would sound brittle and sterile, I cant stand telefunken smooths in guitar amps! If you have 35 of the buggers, test them and sell them on ebay, you should get enough for them to build a couple amps outfitted with good nos tubes.

I like smooth plate <> in first position in some amps.
They add bite, and treble detail.
If you already have too much of that, you might want to try Raytheon.

Re: Telefunkens in a Liverpool
I've tried Teles in my original Express & Liverpool and they were simply too bright for my tastes. Nice tubes though it just depends on the application.

I love those things but was told by Gregg Levy that they 'lack color'. They (he said) are more preferred by hi-fi guys in their hi-fi amps, a very honest tube.

Most people stall out when fixing a mistake that they've made. Why?

Ken Fischer wrote that trainwrecks don't like telefunkens in V1.
That means that you can use it as a phase inverter, V3.
