Man,my foot switch is still working backwards - when the LED light comes on - the effect goes away. Since there is not a clear schematic for this foot switch,I might have to see how it's done n the dumle... Weird,I just can not figure it out. On the photo both toggle switches have their opposite prongs connected- but not on schematic, I copied it but it did not change a thing...
Re: New Ceriatone Overtone build with a few q. Completed!
Two hours later and the foot switch still having problems. I copied the 124 OCD wiring for the OD and the boost switches with the pedal, but only the boost is working. I tried to connect my pedal board to the effects loop and did not get much sound out of it. However now my Overdrive channel is gone all together. ahhhhh! I am going to bed and tomorrow I will try to figure out the principal of wiring of a foot switch in relation to the toggle switches and to the relays - I bet I will find my OD too... If anyone had struggles with the foot switches before - any help is welcome
Re: New Ceriatone Overtone build with a few q. Completed!
Best is to keep the Ceriatone Lay-out as reference for the hookup of the footswitch to the relay's. The relay boards of Ceriatone are slightly different compared to those on this forum. Check and double check the correct wiring with a multimeter.

Good news, I found my overdrive channel. Today in Church, I actually prayed for divine help, and a little bit later, on the way home, I had a revelation that it must be the second 12ax7 tube. As soon as I got home I swapped it for another one, and -bam- I had my overdrive channel back, up and running. Thank you Jesus. Literally. The bad tube was a used one that passed my tube tester, but could not handle the Dumble test. Now, off to solving my foot switch problem . Yes, I will pray this time too.
P.S. I gotta mention that besides prayer I spent hours studying the schematic yesterday, but every one of us can use a little help from above now and then.

I might be wrong but I'm fairly certain Jesus had little knowledge of how electrons might behave under the influence of electrostatic fields in a vacuum.chikov wrote: Thank you Jesus. Literally.
But maybe I could have that wrong.
Re: New Ceriatone Overtone build with a few q. Completed!
Another good news, I fixed the pedal problem. I realized that I reversed the wire from OD and Boost at the DIN jack. So I swapped 4 and 2 prong wires and reversed the wiring inside the pedal to original Ceriatone layout. Everything began working!
Quick question, I biased the power tubes to about 35mV and the plate voltage is about 444V - does it sound kosher?
Thanks again for ALL your help, guys

I know, I know, but even though He might not care about Electricity, I guess, he cared about poor Alex, who was very stressed at the time.hywelg wrote:I might be wrong but I'm fairly certain Jesus had little knowledge of how electrons might behave under the influence of electrostatic fields in a vacuum.chikov wrote: Thank you Jesus. Re: New Ceriatone Overtone build with a few q. Completed!
Ok, 0.035 x 444 = 15.5W. If you are running 6L6GC, they are 30W plate dissipation tubes. 15.5/30 = 52% of max, but actually less than that because some of it is screen grid current. The consensus is that D amps sound best biased a little cool, but I would go up to 40 or 45 mA and see what it sounds like.
Re: New Ceriatone Overtone build with a few q. Completed!
I had to share the good news with you all. My amp is finished! There are still a few things I will be tweaking on the inside, but the outside is ready. Here it is:

I will try to make a video with a few types of a sound I was able to get out of this amazing amp. More on it later.

That's nice bro! It looks like if it was a person it would be a professor at Harvard or something...very distinguished looking

Thanks, that is great compliment! I need to figure out how to remove the wrinkle from the front of my speaker grille... Heat gun? Any other ideas?jcsifu wrote:That's nice bro! It looks like if it was a person it would be a professor at Harvard or something...very distinguished looking
