I'm getting ready to start a 5B6 Bassman project. The PT I have set aside for the project is a 330-0-330 with two 6.3 taps.
What would be best practice here? Cap one set? Run power tubes off one set and preamp tubes off the other? One for tubes and the other for the pilot light?
Aslo... I plan on using SS rectification since the PT is slightly lower than the 350-0-350 the project calls for.

Try the 330-0-330 PT with a 5U4G, should be about right B+. I did a PSUD2 simulation using 325-0-325, it came in right on 400V B+. 5U4GB drops a tad more and is cheaper. Assume 7 to 10% regulation in the sim.
I used a 350-0-350 with a 5R4GY in my 5B6 build, which drops about 20V more than a 5U4G, and get about 410V B+, 407 Vp.

PTP or Board? Our keyboard player seems to have stolen mine after playing B3 patch through it, so I'll be building another.

Some swear by PTP. I used a board, basically the same as Tonemerc's. See pic of mine. There is more on both TM's and my build on another thread/threads. My build is tubes up, board layout reversed so input on left, power switch(es) on right, Fender-style.
I added a passive loop, with rather long leads, and at cranked levels I get a little parasitic artifacts, haven't chopsticked it yet but if you can the loop it probably won't do that.
