How about some of you guys contribute to Ampgarage before asking for packages.

No posts or 1 post asking for complete package of data WTF.

I get your point Fowler. But people spamming the forums with useless posts just to get a certain amount is not that good of an alternative.
But I will try to post more and ask again later ;)

Sheesh...now I feel left out.

Asking for someone's "package", though...I'll stick to being left out.

Haha, I thought this was a forum about guitar amps. Not each others 'package' xD

FWIW, if you read lots of threads and do some not-so-creative googling (hint hint), you can find everything you need to build an Asteroid. There's an amazing amount of information on here, thanks everyone. Worked for me and I love my amp. Just finished the head cab:

Mercury Magnetics transformers for an Astro amp

Post by RJ Guitars »

It's interesting to see this come back to life... well sorta come to life anyway. I have been doing some talking with Mercury Magnetics on Wreck transformers lately and was surprised to learn that they have a transformer set available for an Astro inspired build. I guess maybe that makes sense with the hammertone finish on some of the komet photos...

I had Astro chassis' and faceplates made up at one time but they didn't move especially well so I don't think there is a large contingent of K-cloners out there. I've heard that Watts audio will make up the circuit boards so maybe all the big pieces are available?? Do we have any clone sound clips or inspiration otherwise to build one of these?

I would really love to see a nice high end build topped of with a LM-Distortion cabinet...

rj I was waiting for some of your chassis but never got any where with that so I ended up having a chassis made for my Larry Mann K50 cab. :)

I talk to guys all the time about Komet chassis and transformers it's alive on my end? :)

Yeah, my top speed is... well not that fast. I have a dozen blanks made now and was waiting for inspiration to have them punched. I did want to have them powder coated after I have them punched to create a little more upscale - less industrial looking box. I have been talking with Larry Mann about having some of his cab's available... he does awesome work!

I was most excited about the MM transformers being available. The OT has a dual secondary so any of the popular models could be made with the same tranny.

What do you use for boards? I was trying to avoid creating yet another board set and developing a full parts package... is somebody feeling entrepreneurial out there and/or is Watts tube audio a viable option for getting boards done?
