He was definitely in love with shielded wire, eh?

As I've gotten older, I seem to use less and less of the stuff

+1, I go w/o it and then might add it later if need. I think if you are going to be that lazy and sloppy all that shielded wire is a necessity.

Wow I'm speechless. How in the hell do these guys keep going?
People look at me like I'm crazy when I tell em I can fix their amp then automatically act like I'm gonna rip them off.but theyll ship it all the way across the country to this loser.

I guess its better to look and sound like you know what you're talking about than to actually know what you are talking about.

Here's one I worked on a few years ago. Looks pretty good compared to the others.

Managed to make it work. Sounded like ass - owner thinks it's awesome. Whatev.

That was my experience too.

That RS board is only bolted on one half, with 3 bolts though, the far side is simply propped up by an e-cap that's attached to it. I wouldn't do this fearing a playing card in bike spokes kind of rattle. I also would have just used a terminal strip to hang the parts off of, with some forethought you can hang a lot of crap off something like an 8 lug strip. Plus easier to work on and service, but I'm a little too fond of terminal strips. It would look a little more mindful that those RS boards.

I was taught never to criticize someone else's work, you never know what pressures they were under or what some ass higher up was pushing on a guy, but I like amps too much to not comment, plus it's kinda fun

Now I am starting to feel really good about my layouts.

Maybe it is a way of discouraging people from copying his work?

I was playing a hot 4th of July party for Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) and our Peavey PA cabinet started on fire. The crowd thought it was part of the show at first. :)
