I agree with pdf64... At 3.3K primary impedance with more than 400V on the plate of those fixed bias 6v6gt tubes you will over-dissipate if you try to play the amp loud.. Unless you bias it stone cold but then you amp might sound worse..
I think your amp sounds better at 3.3K at low volume because your plates will allready be run hotter than at 6.6K.. But turn up that mother and see the tubes burn the power supply can supply enough power...
The 5e3 deluxe used a 8k OT but it is common with cathode biased amps to run the impedance slightly higher than grid biased amps..

The 400v are only present at idle and this voltage will drop at full load (playing loud with the volume up) to about 350 or less. NOS tubes where built stronger back in the day and the 6v6GTA was a tougher tube.
