I used to travel there frequently on business. I recall there were some great steak-houses in Ft. Worth. Cattlemen's is the one I remember best. Recommended. Gosh, I'm getting hungry just writing about it.

I'll be there at least from the 7th through the 9th for a wedding so I'll shoot you a PM if I'm free. Was thinking about staying a little longer anyways to see a few other buddies I haven't seen in a while. Maybe we can gather up a few other TAG guys and have a little get together.

I live in Dallas, we have some decent places. Zoo music off garland road is cool for older vintage stuff (too expensive to actually purchase)

The local GC's actually carry some interesting vintage stuff. Then there is shake rag off Ross avenue near downtown. Charlie's guitars off royal is somewhat famous (SRV used to buy from there)

Let me know when your in town man, shoot me a PM

OK so I travelled today. Air travel has really gotten bad. They always treated you like cattle but it's really gotten worse.

In any case I am in Fort Worth if anyone wants to get dinner one night or maybe meet at a guitar store shoot me a PM.

I'm gonna be 2 weeks without a geetar so I was thinking maybe a pawn shop for a cheap fix and ship it home when I am done

Didn't do much pawn shopping in Dallas but I eat them alive here in Austin. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of great guitars in pawn shops anymore, and since they have teh googlez and fleabay they can now look up pretty much anything and overprice it accordingly. There's still some deals to be had but they are few and far between (unless someone at the pawn shop knows what they are buying). I picked up an early 70's Ibanez 12 string and a 72 Yamaha FG-75 (both MIJ) for good prices recently, but that was I think more luck and persistence with a few shops I know that get good stuff. I remember the Guitar Centers being pretty badass in Dallas and Fort Worth as mentioned earlier so make sure to check those out. They'll deal on used stuff so make sure to push them for the best price!

For what it's worth, the Guitar Center on 75 and NW Highway has a mid 60s JTM 45 full stack in amazing condition in there right now. Go in there and crank it up to eleven!!

Also there is a relatively new Sam Ash just two exits down on Royal and 75. They bought up a ton of vintage gear at the last Dallas show, it might be worth checking out. They have an original Marshall 20W that sounds great.

I know of a few more places around. Lemme know.

As far as pawn shops go, there is one in Garland 10 minutes east of Dallas called American Pawn - its off IH-30 and Broadway. Big for a pawn shop. They usually have a lot of gear too.
