In Taiwan. management is expected to "perform" at the company's Chinese New Year Party (Weiya -is the Chinese name of this kind of party). Each year we have this party and each year's theme is unique. This year the theme was "The Movies". All the departments dressed up in famous movie costumes - we had Iron Man, Men in Black, Star Wars, Despicable Me, Pirate's of the Caribbean and others. Fun was had by all. This year, the marketing department was in charge of everything and did a great job. They hired a band and - I gave J. B. Goode a go dressed like an old fat Marty Mcfly. Played a Les Paul into a '79 Deluxe Reverb, converted to mostly blackface - also used had a tube screamer on about 1/2. The rest of the band played DI with modeling stuff into the PA. Even though the sound guy had my amp on about 3-4, it cuts through (might not be good thing) a lot more than the other guys on the modeling stuff. Both the young guys on guitar were very, very good players, though.
One the staff recorded on an HD video camera. I look and sound much better in low, low d.

Re: Party time....
Looked like fun Mike and good playing too.
Re: Party time....
Thanks - it was a lot of fun and the costumes were over the top this year.
My guitar playing was pretty much sloppy as usual. The two young Taiwan players were both really, really good. They play mostly metal when they're able to play what they want.
The kid in the black shirt (Mason) is especially good. You can see him biting his lip during my JBG solo.....

Careful now....She's dating the guitar player in the black shirt, if Mason can move like he plays guitar, he'll go Bruce Lee on you.Teleguy61 wrote:DISCLAIMER!! NOT POLITICALLY CORRECT STATEMENT TO FOLLOW!!!!

Had to Google that a few times before I figured it out (I think). The bass player's name is Pa Ting, and she may not be a Tara Wilkenfeld, but she certainly has stage presence.

The young Tal Wilkenfeld, who gained her fame with Jeff Beck. It was a play on r, l and w pronounciation.

Right, Tal.
I saw her play in Saitama arena in Japan a few years ago -great show, Beck and Clapton. Each played separately with their respective bands (Tal stole the show on the jumbo tron). They ended with Beck and Clapton jamming together - basically just straight up blues jam -Awesome!.
My Japanese colleagues at the show were kind of disappointed Clapton didn't play wonderful tonight or tears in heaven. They had no appreciation for the rarity of having the chance to see Beck and Clapton simply having a jam session.
