Yes. Hats off when due.
Re: 13 year old guitarplayer
Amazing brillant, how he's playing the guitar with his 13 years! Unbelievable
But how he'll be playing, when he's 25 or 30 years old...

He doesn't play anything I haven't heard before.
Re: 13 year old guitarplayer
Shure, I also have heared all what he's playing already before, but...oldmacman wrote:He doesn't play anything I haven't heard before.
... all the guitar players, playing SRV stuff with this perfectness have been already much older than just 13 years, sometimes even very much older...

Re: 13 year old guitarplayer
That is quite irrelevant. Writing as a someone who has spent the last 17 years as a full time music teacher and performer I can see many aspects of the youngster's musicianship that are well above the average.oldmacman wrote:He doesn't play anything I haven't heard before.

Great playing...makes me wanna quite playing my geetar. !3 years old...awesome!!!
Re: 13 year old guitarplayer
I definitely agree that he's incredibly talented to be able to do that at that young of an age.
I'll be interested to see what happens to him in 10 years - if he finds his own style (hopefully - he has the technique down and he must have great ears to be able to do what he did), or if he continues to imitate.

Re: 13 year old guitarplayer
To be honest, I hear very few guitar players that bring something new to the blues these days, young or old. So concidering he's only 13 years old, I don't think that re-inventing the blues is very realistic.oldmacman wrote:He doesn't play anything I haven't heard before.
Tommy
Re: 13 year old guitarplayer
And also his voice is 'remarkable' for a 13 y.o. youngster
I'm shure, that he'd have a great career in future - not every day such a exceptional talented child will be born

Tale of Two Guitarists:
When I was in Jr. High (early 70's), there was a guy named Tom who wasn't as good as this kid, however, he was impressive for a 13 year old and seemed destined to really become something major. When we were all caught up in the Fusion phase, he got into Jazz and to this day can not stop himself from playing outside licks where they don't belong. He survives somehow.
Later, when I was a freshman in College, there was a guy upstairs named Jeff. He was a walking encyclopedia of 60's music and he could sing. He also had a personality as big as Shamu, who he resembles physically. The last time I saw him on tv, he was in the receiving line for the Queen of England at her Jubilee concert. Fosket spent 9 years with the Beach Boys (hey it's a gig) and is currently still Brian Wilson's band leader. His guitar playing is adequate and always was that and no more. He's added nothing to our vocabulary, but he's done well by most standards and doesn't need a day job.

Re: 13 year old guitarplayer
not bad.
playing the guitar isnt all that hard, in some ways. its the listening, and then being able to rehash that something goes wrong with alot of folks.....

Re: 13 year old guitarplayer
There is no doubt he is talented. Thanks to an MTV mentality, that kid will make it not because he can play, but mostly because of his looks. Musical ability is unfortunately not a priority for major label record companies these days. Hopefully the kid will come into his own style so that not just the teeny boppers will get something for their money.
