I may sheepishly respectfully ask for RTs buying tutorial when the time comes.

It's a lot like yours, hence the post. Bummer is, it isn't mine. The design is a masterpiece.

Can someone explain the R thing with Les Paul's?

Like what is an R6 or a R8?

I will be forever amazed at the inspiration that produced the Telecaster, the Stratocaster, and the Les Paul. How many products are still around, much less in their original form, after 50+ years?

I made it to the mahogany selection where he went off the farm.

Sorry for leaving you hanging. I get the cowbell for that. Nobody calls NGD without pics. 1st rule of Fight Club: don't talk about new guitars without pics. I just wanted to acknowledge Miles.

Anyway, here she is! 2013 R9 '59 Reissue, Lemonburst. Sorry for the bad picture, no time to get a good one.

A real beauty! I did not hear about the hide glue and slab finger boards on these. Nice and light too! Now add a pigtail and steel studs, you'll be glad you did. :)

Yeah I have been amazed at Gil Yaron's skill.

He definitely has what it takes to make a historic LP.

Not too many electronic things are made with wood anymore. :D

Little things like african mahogany isn't even true mahogany and every 50s Gibson IS Honduras. That kind of thing makes me hang up the phone.

His guitars look great. Hoduras weighs about nothing if you have the real stuff, that is the point..

The internet makes us all very stupid.

According to the innernet (http://www.wood-database.com), Honduran Mahogany averages 41 lb/ft3, and African averages 43 lb/ft3... less than 5% difference, maybe 4 ounces in a guitar body (?), but probably noticeable. Hard maple averages 44 lb/ft3, so the top contributes a bit to the weight of a LP, and Rosewood is 57-58 lb/ft3. Tonally I think Honduran and African are close. The thing is like many tropical species, Honduran is getting hard to find, so anybody building guitars today has to make do with what is available at the price they or their customers can afford.

I feel that Eastern/Northern Maple makes a big difference in tone for a LP.
