Phil

You're right about the Bluesbird. My brother got one a while back and he plays it all the time now. Even sold his R9. I tried it and was very surprised how similar it felt but didn't break your back. It came in used at our local music store and was cheap! Nice guitar...
In theory, theory is the same as practice. In practice it's different.

I have cut 5-6 LPs for Floyds. None looked anything like that when done.
Signatures have a 255 character limit that I could abuse, but I am not Cecil B. DeMille.

And you were able to make sense of his answers? Did you run them through Google Translate?

Yeah, you can also get a Starfire IV instead of an ES-335. Both are bargains compared to the Gibson "equivalent." I'm sure there are serious players who'd disagree about equivalence and I won't argue. I'm just saying these are also great guitars, underrated, leading to less demand and not so much cache, so they can be had at a comparative bargain. I'm not surprised at all that your brother likes his so much. I have a Starfire. Perfectly wonderful semi hollow guitar.

Jeff, I will take some more photos, but yeah, it's really nice. The 2013s apparently mark the return to The Olde Ways with hide glue for the neck joint, new formulation for binding, analine dye, pickups, single slab for the fretboard (no more laminates), no weight relief, etc. The neck is sort of in between, not too thick nor thin; very comfortable. Plays and sounds great and really stays in tune. This one is 8lbs. 8oz.

Hard to know where to post, there are so many LPs being discussed lately. I'll use the "birds of a feather" angle.
This guitar has been on loan to me for a while. It's the first time I've ever had a Les Paul to play for any length of time. I have to admit, I never took them seriously, with their short scale, midrangy, compressed, guitar hero tone, but now I am obsessed and want one bad. Many trips to guitar stores lately trying to learn about the beast.
This guitar is a 2003 R9, with a Brazilian finger board. Awesome guitar.
