Fuchs 50 watt clip w/1265 speaker
Non-HRM, G1265, SM57. 6L6 tubes. Current production preamp tubes. EH in V2.
First attempt at recording a friends Fuchs that I did factory sanctioned hand tuning on. This amp may serve as a proto for a new model..... Any comments welcome.

I hate Vista....not exactly what you were looking for. I'm keen to hear this since it's basically my setup. I'll have to use another computer.dogears wrote:Any comments welcome.

Can't you just right click and save?

Nice sounding amp. Don't wish to rock the boat but I notice it doesn't have the mojo of the HRM amp in the other previous post.
The HRM amp seems to have a sweet upper mid ( or highs) thing happening that is more pronounced than in this amp. Is that because one is HRM and the other isn't or just my ears?

Re: Fuchs 50 watt clip w/1265 speaker
Could be a number of factors. I could turn up the treble control... It was on 10 oclock. I could up the presence too... I also experimented and reduced the presence cap size on this clip. Mic placement might have been a little more to cone edge. Plus these were EH tubes. Kind of dark in my experience. I'll do another clip in a couple of hours and see if I can get a little more upper mid bite.

dogears,
I dig it. IMO the non-HRMs seem to give a little more dynamic or less compressed result - It really barks with a more percussive edge when you dig into it. Two flavors - yummy!! Is your own amp capable of doing HRM and non?
Thanks for the clip - please post more

Great range of smooth to bark. Was the guitar tone rolled off or was it all the amp?
re:Vista It's a new work computer and I don't have admin on it yet. It was trying to run Real instead of MS Media Player. Laptop speakers blow anyway.

Lucky Greg......

Yep... love the dynamics of this amp.
Great playing BTW.

Scott, the 2nd and 3rd sounded darker and more compressed to me...just the way i like those kind of amps!
Great playing and great sounding amp!

Re: Fuchs 50 watt clip w/1265 speaker
It goes without saying, but terrific playing. I liked the tone on both clips a lot. Really smooth. Personally I kinda prefer the previous HRM clip, it seems to have a little more 'grainyness' that I find very pleasing and expressive. These non HRM tones were a little too polished. I guess it just goes to show how different these topologies sound.
Re: Fuchs 50 watt clip w/1265 speaker
Just thought I would comment. Scott is doing this mod for me. I prefer a little darker, smoother tone (although I do like a nice high end bite here and there).
Personally, I don't like a grainy tone. So Scott is tweaking my Fuchs to get the tone more to my taste.
And I want to add that Scott is doing an excellent job, as always.
Thanks again, Scott!

Nice work. I think this is as close as anyone is going to get for the sound that Greg's going after. Amazing tone and playing, as always.

Re: Fuchs 50 watt clip w/1265 speaker
Very interesting. Through my PC speakers what I hear is: regardless of whether the amp is HRM or not, if you dial it in the "usual" way (treble low and bass higher) the amps thend to do the RF thing. However, in this case with the non HRM, as you dial the amp brighter, the ressemblence goes away. Can you comment on that, since you were next to the amp(s) when you ecorded the clips?dogears wrote:Here is a new take... http://www.scottlernermusic.com/2007/GregAmp2.mp3
