Take a vote. Have original dupont LPB, Sherwood, Sonic, Daphne, Shoreline, and OTM. Sonic and. Sherwood look very good under a green guard.

Have reds too. No.

In other news I need 3 black bobbin pickups. I lost the set. Trade PAFs.
Miles looks like my paint cabinet. I vote sherwood green. :D

Ok, three green and one red.. not used to that ratio. Three reds to a green. That is normal.

It's going to look like an original job when the green is on. The body is really super nice underneath the black and clear. Would have made a perfect see-thru blonde but nobody wanted to buy it. I am going to torture it until it matches the guard.

I have a couple new telecasters going too for other peeples. :D

Aha

Nice selection of paints, Miles.
Not many people realize how closely Leo used GM model paints.
Which includes most DuPont colors from the period.

What was the original color of the 60 strat?

I'm a sucker for Sonic Blue and it is the right color for that vintage as a custom color.
I believe that it was a Cadillac color in '58.

Strange that Leo called any color other than sunburst, a custom color, since a burst is more labor.
But back in 1954 and for a couple years two tone sunburst was all that was available.

Also, Burgandy Mist (A 1959 Oldsmobile color) is a great color if you like purple guitars.
One of the colors I haven't done yet.

At one point I was going to build a Strat guitar in every pastel color in the catalog.
Foam Green, Surf Green, Shell Pink, Fiesta Red, Sonic Blue, etc.
But I ran out of interest and funds.

BTW, most of you know about this website but it is the most authoritative site I know of for Fenders and Gibsons.

What year was Sparky Red made?

Looks like an awful thick finish on that.

Surprised at the checking if if is a 70's guitar.

I painted Sparky in.. 1990 or something?

The black thing was blonde before it was so ugly.

Most of the early Fender colored guitars were leftovers from the DeSoto shop down the street until they standardized their colors in 1958 I think. I have buddies with one off strats in weird colors that totally don't look right at all.

EDIT:

The coolest reds are the UK imports because of hank marvin vs black and white TV. The dealers reshot bursts with similar reds, but not always close.
