Re: Effect Pedal building
The ring is must be making contact with the enclosure or sleeve, got a picture? Sometimes with poorly made jacks, when tightened, the various bits and tabs jam up together creating a short.

Found it! You were right the ring was making contact thru a drop of solder that fell back there. When tightened it would connect the two but out it was just enuff not to touch. I'll clean it out and put it back together...
Thanks.

Re: Effect Pedal building
Glad to hear it's solved!
New pedal decision
Guys
OK now I need a reverb pedal. Any recommended ones to check out?
Thanks.

Re: Effect Pedal building
Are you looking to build a pedal or get a commercial product?
Re: Effect Pedal building
From what I've read you are better off buying a reverb pedal
Re: Effect Pedal building
I'd like to build something but it needs to sound good as well. Guitar Gadgets and Mammoth both have units but do they work?
If its a commercial unit what's good?
Budget is good question, if building $100, if buying $200.
Is that gonna work?
Thanks...

Re: Effect Pedal building
A couple diy's that seem popular on various pedal forums. Soundclips around on youtube. Boards are available or you could roll your own.

Tone Pad also has a reverb board but I haven't heard it.

Re: Effect Pedal building
I had assembled a Klon kit and did a very poor job of it.
However, dorrisant (Tony) came to my rescue and fixed the pedal for me.
I can't say enough good things about this standup guy so if you need new amp, amp repair, pedal repair or new pedals call dorrisant.
The pedal sounds great using my Les Paul and Reverb Rocket (EL34 power) for testing.

I have an umble pedal http://olcircuits.com/olc_umble.html and I find that the bass pot is where the treble pot is they didn't pay too close attention during assembly. They work as bad as I do on pedals.

Re: Effect Pedal building
Thanks for the props, Mark! Glad you are digging it.
As for reverb... The GGG/HERMIDA Deverb is pretty nice! I have it boxed up with an EP type booster that I'm tweaking. It uses the same Belton digital reverb module used in some of the high dollar units... If it isn't an exact copy of a Mr. Springy or vice-versa I would be suprised.
Also of some interest is the All-Star reverb. Same Belton module but with more options. Gotta design a board for it.

Re: Effect Pedal building
The horrible part of pedal building is wiring that farkakte blue 3PDT switch that's everywhere. I saw this pict surfing pedals and traced it to this site. This board might be what's needed for me to motivate together those pedal kits I have sitting in a tupperware box. Most likely the pedal savants here are meh, but others might like to know.
