Re: Baseball
Turns out the base path is defined by the runner (except on the way to first) so the foul line has nothing to do with it. It was the right call dammit. Damn you too, Salty. Two errant throws to third in two games cost the Sox both.cbass wrote:That was awild ending I was listenin to it on the radio.Since Im outdoors now.Firestorm wrote:Wow! Re: Baseball
Yup once he missed the ball it was interference
Re: Baseball
Obstruction and interference are the two most misunderstood rules in the game. Those and appeals. My kid's team won a semi-final today because their opponents screwed up the appeal on a missed base. They were pissed!
Re: Baseball
Obstruction, not interference. What'd I say about these rules being confusing.cbass wrote:Yup once he missed the ball it was interference
Re: Baseball
Yup you are right .if had caught the ball he would have been in the fact of fielding once he missed it He wasn't in the act of fielding anymore

Update: (even though no one cares) my son's team won the championship, three wins in a row. They were the wild card team, not expected to contend. My kid pitched the first game and took a no-hitter into the 6th inning (they only play 7). Proud.

High School. What, 5% of them get play in college and 5% of those have a shot at pro. So I won't plan my retirement around him. But 80% of the kids he used to play with have dropped out or been cut, so he's still standing.cbass wrote:That's awesome you should be proudFirestorm wrote:It's out there. Back to the Sox. Classic "must win. " Unfortunately, Homeland is on.
Re: Baseball
Congrats Firestorm.
We were watching the game at a Halloween party and I couldn't believe how upset some party goer's got.
This isn't the East coast here, not many fanaticism here.
Like I said, Baseball is not that popular here anymore.
Unless Portland gets a pro team, baseball or football, I don't hold out much hope for much of a fan base.

Re: Baseball
It is a shame that so many drop out of sports by the time they are 13 or 14, but that's what competition does. I have two in high school, still playing basketball and baseball. It's fun to watch their trials and tribulations. I don't think it should be about being a pro...at least for the parent. If the players have dreams of being pros, that's great, but parents shouldn't set those goals IMO. Too much damn pressure on kids these days. Being a two sport athlete is a pain in the ass from all sides anymore.High School. What, 5% of them get play in college and 5% of those have a shot at pro. So I won't plan my retirement around him. Congrats on your son's pitching performance and championship. Sounds like a fun weekend.
Re: Baseball
Some kids get to play sports in college. If you get recruited to Division 1 you're very special. Division 2 and 3 don't really have money to dole out, but the kid can still play (maybe) and here is the issue. You can't pick a school where you might get to play; you have to go with academic fit.
Re: Baseball
I can't believe that third baseman missed that catch.
Error, no?

So anyway. I'll bet all you Cards fans didn't expect that. I've got no dog in the fight this year but anybody who hates the Yankees as much as I do is alright in my book.
